Burundi Meteorological department on Thursday warned that large part of the country will receive much rainfall from September to December this year.
The forecast says that thus, Eastern , Southern and Northern Burundi will receive above normal rainfall whereas Western Burundi will receive below normal rainfall.
As the forecast has been released while it has been raining for two consecutive days, Aaron Ntiranyibagira, the forecaster at Burundi meteorological service, says that these rains are off season.
"The rains we have received so far are off season rains. The effective onset of rains is expected at the beginning of October," he said .
The Burundian senior meteorologist also told reporters that the La Nina phenomenon was still under observation .
